National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)

Windows and doors are the single biggest source of home energy loss through unwanted heat gain, or heat loss, depending on the season. At a time when energy costs are a major part of your home budget, becoming more energy-efficient is important.

In 1989 Berkeley Lab developed the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), a non-profit organization that administers the only uniform, independent rating and labeling system for the energy performance of windows, doors and skylights.

NFRC ratings are fair, accurate, and credible because the rating system is independent – manufacturers have no say over how their products are rated.

That’s why the federal government and energy codes in many states and local jurisdictions encourage homeowners, builders and contractors to purchase only NFRC-rated products.

Proof of Performance – Look for the NFRC Label

Our replacement windows are rated well below the state recommended .40 U-value (U-factor) rating for energy efficiency. The lower the U-value, the greater a window’s resistance to heat flow and the better its insulating value and performance.
